Replace ordinary switches with managed Stratix and segment the control network with VLANs
Move the EtherNet/IP network onto managed industrial switches and separate the control zone from the office network, with diagrams and configurations kept on file.
Scope
- Survey of the existing topology and devices
- VLAN/segmentation and IP addressing design
- Stratix configuration, replacement area by area within each area's shutdown window
- PLC–HMI–drive communication test after replacement
- Handover of network diagrams + configuration files
Not included
- IT/OT firewall (quoted separately)
- New cabling/panels outside the scope
What the plant prepares
- Shutdown window for each area

Office switches used on a control network keep working — until broadcast, multicast or a single faulty port brings the whole line down. The Converged Plantwide Ethernet guidance (ENET-TD001E pp. 3-32–3-41, 3-63–3-74, 4-42–4-44) is the basis for the redesign: separating the control VLAN from the office network, fixing the IP addressing, configuring the Stratix switches (IGMP snooping, QoS for EtherNet/IP, port security). Plan the replacement area by area, each area in its own shutdown window. Handover includes network diagrams and configuration files so that IT and maintenance both hold a copy.
