MES on Ignition with Sepasoft Modules
Sepasoft is a third-party software company whose MES modules run on the Ignition platform: OEE and downtime, lot tracking and genealogy, recipes and changeover, statistical process control and ISA-88 batch. The core modules are licensed per site, without a count of lines or users. Where a plant uses or chooses these modules, TDL connects them to the line PLCs, so machine states, counts, alarms and recipe values come from the existing controllers.
Sepasoft modules (third-party software)
OEE Downtime
Work orders, production counts, OEE calculation and downtime reasons by line, shift and product.
Track and Trace
Lot tracking, material movements and genealogy from raw material to finished goods, on the ISA-95 model.
Settings and Changeover
Machine recipes and setpoints by product, changeover control and tracking of deviations from the recipe values.
SPC
Automatic and manual sampling, control charts and alerts on quality signals.
Batch Procedure
ISA-88 batch, continuous and general procedures on Ignition Perspective.
ERP and business systems
Business Connector, Web Services and the Interface for SAP ERP link the MES functions to ERP and other systems over REST, SOAP or a direct SAP interface.
TDL experience with these functions on Rockwell Automation platforms
Batch and recipe control
FactoryTalk Batch and PlantPAx batch and recipe control in making areas and in a new-build feed plant.
Recipes and size changeover
Recipe editors, changeover steps and automatic size change on packing lines and machines.
Code and quality checks
Barcode and OCR checks, vision, checkweigher and reject stations on packing lines.
Stop and alarm data
Machine alarm words mapped to the plant's production system.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sepasoft need Ignition?
Yes. Sepasoft modules are installed on an Ignition gateway together with Sepasoft's Production component and use Ignition's Vision or Perspective screens; Batch Procedure runs on Perspective.
How are Sepasoft modules licensed?
OEE Downtime, Track and Trace, SPC and Settings and Changeover are licensed per site, without a limit on lines, machines or users at that site. Batch Procedure and the connector modules are licensed per server.
Can existing Allen-Bradley lines be connected?
Yes. Ignition reads ControlLogix and CompactLogix tags over EtherNet/IP, so machine states, counts and alarms come from the existing PLCs, with program changes only where data is missing.
Does a plant need all modules at once?
No. A common first step is OEE Downtime on one line; Track and Trace, Settings and Changeover or SPC are added when the plant needs them.
Planning MES functions on Ignition?
Speak directly with our engineers. Your RFQ, scope of work or drawings are answered by the engineers who program and commission the systems, from the first review of the existing system to the proposed solution.
