The most common problem when upgrading firmware lies not in the controller but in compatibility: which Studio 5000 version can open which project, and which firmware the I/O modules and network cards need to go with it. Before upgrading, build a compatibility table from PCDC for every catalog number in the panel and back up programs and configuration; upgrade with ControlFLASH Plus in sequence, checking after each step. The upgrade plan should include a way back to the old firmware, agreed with the plant beforehand. The final revision table is handed over so that later maintenance work has a reference ready.
